"Hello, how are you doing?" he said. From the other, a smoker, there came an oral spasm
followed by a loud wheezing sound as he took another puff on his cigarette.
With labored breathing he struggled to speak.
Gasping for air and finally in a halting gravelly voice,
"Hello..., I'm well... and doing just... fine..." he replied.

A Big Problem
If an unfortunate animal is placed in a large pool of water,
that is for it comfortably warm, and the water is very slowly heated until it boils.
Then the animal will keep adjusting to the change in temperature and
not realise what is happening until it is too late and gets boiled alive.
The problem is how to get the animal to become aware of its predicament
and understand what the consequences will be if it stays in the pot?
Remember,
- The animal does not speak the same language as the rescuer.
- The animal is suspicious of the motives of anyone trying to help.
- The animal finds the pot warm and pleasant, it feels just fine
and sees no reason to either leave or take a closer look at its situation.
